• The Open Archive System enables the users to maintain data that are produced in institutions. As a result, the data will be preserved to the next generations.
  
  Open Archive System has been developed with Ankara Universities Information and Documets Management Department. While using the information technologies, the traditional methods of gaining information are used, too. In summary, enveryone in the internet can obtain the information that are produced by academicians freely.
• The people who work in information centers of universities have to transver the rapidly inscreasing sources to the academic units. In addition, they have to contact with each academisian to obtain their publications and papers and as a result creating an Open Archive will take alot of time. In the developed system, passwords are given to the academicians to enter their own papers. As a result, the people who works in information centers only controls the data flow in the distributed data gathering system.
• The System, informs the manager about the entered information and the manager controls and decides wether to accept or decline them. To obtain a general use, an easy and user-friendly interface is used in all departments.
• After gathering adequate data, the entegration between international open archives is formed. The data will be transferd in DC (DublinCore) matadata format. In conclusion, the data will be searched from other OAI (Open Archive Initiative) compatibel systems.
• Our aim is to create academical and institutional open achive databases in our country and develop a national open archive while the data which are preserved in international standards will be searched from other systems.
• Our software system which is entirely developed by local resourses can be updated by requests and international standards improvment.
